Weekend Weather: Thunderstorms may disrupt Alexandria’s weekend plans

Get ready for a possibly stormy weekend, Alexandria. The National Weather Service says storms are heading our way, starting Friday evening.

Despite a sunny start with highs near 86°F, there’s a 30% chance of rain after 5 p.m. Friday. As night falls, the odds of showers and thunderstorms increase, with a slight chance of rain returning after 2 a.m. Saturday. Expect overnight lows around 67°F.

Saturday looks even wetter. There’s a 60% chance of showers and possible thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 83°F. The Weather Service predicts less than a tenth of an inch of rain, but thunderstorms could bring heavier downpours.

Sunday’s forecast doesn’t look much drier. Showers are likely, with a possible thunderstorm after 2 p.m. The chance of rain jumps to 70%, and temperatures cool slightly to around 78°F.

Sunday night brings a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Expect mostly cloudy conditions and lows around 65°F.
