How Alexandria Kids Can Volunteer and Stay Home

Volunteer Alexandria has opened registration for middle and high school students who want to volunteer their time and energy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The virtual “Breaks With Impact Service Challenge” asks students who wants to make an impact to select issues they care about, developing a plan for a solution to an issue, and raising awareness.

Participants will submit their work and photo release form to Volunteer Alexandria by Sunday, May 31 at 10 p.m., and will subsequently get their certificates of service.

Students will meet online via Zoom every Tuesday and Thursday from 2-3 p.m. in April and May.

Projects include making COVID-19 Red Shield Boxes — which are care packages being organized by the Salvation Army — and smaller breakout sessions with other nonprofit leaders.
