Notes: First snowfall of 2023 hits Alexandria overnight

🌧️ Today’s weather: Rain is expected mainly before 9am, followed by mostly cloudy skies that will gradually clear up, reaching a high near 43. The day will be breezy with a northwest wind of 16 to 21 mph and gusts up to 39 mph. Precipitation has a 60% chance with less than a tenth of an inch possible. For Monday night, expect clear skies, a low around 28, and a northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph that becomes light west after midnight.

It’s light, blink and you’ll miss it, but the region had some of its first snowfall this morning.

The region got nearly two inches of snow this morning in some places, the first snow in over a year for Alexandria.

Some experts had predicted that Alexandria could have another snow-less winter, though now most estimates saw snow is more likely throughout the season.

Alexandria snow plows did a test run around the city last month to get ready for the possibility of stronger winter weather ahead.
