The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a series of automated teller machine thefts and an armed robbery near its border with Alexandria.
At around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, three suspects allegedly tried to “forcibly access an ATM” in the 6500 block of Little River Turnpike, according to an FCPD release. At around 3:15 a.m., an armed robbery was committed a mile away at the 7-Eleven store at 4848 N. Beauregard Street in Fairfax County’s Lincolnia neighborhood.
“The suspects entered the store, implied they had a firearm and threatened the employee,” FCPD said. “The suspects gained access to two separate ATMs at the business and left with an undisclosed amount of money.”
Police are also investigating two ATM thefts incidents that occurred last week near Alexandria. The first took place on Thursday, Nov. 2 at around 3:42 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 6147 Franconia Road in Kingstowne when suspects allegedly displayed a firearm and stole money from the ATM. Also that day, a suspect attempted to steal money from a Burke and Herbert Bank at 5519 Franconia Road.
