An Alexandria man has been released on his own recognizance after allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint and ordering him to send him $100 via Cash App.
The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2022, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
The male victim was leaving his friend’s home and was walking to his car in the parking lot when “an unknown male came up behind him, grabbed his neck with one hand and pointed a knife at his stomach with the other hand,” police said in a search warrant affidavit.
The affidavit continued, “The male told him (the victim) to… transfer money from his savings to his checking fist. The male let (the victim) transfer the money to his checking account and then gave the (suspect) his phone. The (suspect) entered his Cash App name and sent $100.”
A search warrant for Cash App returned with the name of Darius Palmer, 28, who lives in the same West End apartment complex where the incident occurred. He was eventually arrested for robbery on Feb. 27, and was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond on March 16. He goes to court on April 10.
Palmer was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon on August 14, 2022. That case was deferred, but is now reopened and Palmer goes to court for the offense on July 14.

Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
