A 47-year-old Alexandria man is out on bond after allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend in her apartment last month, according to police.
The incident allegedly occurred at the victim’s apartment on Sunday, Feb. 12, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit. The victim reported that the suspect allegedly strangled her inside of her apartment.
The victim then reportedly left her apartment for a number of days for her safety, and when she returned she found a number of items were missing from her apartment suspect and his new girlfriend were allegedly found more than $1,200 worth of items missing from the apartment, according to the search warrant affidavit. No charges were filed for the alleged theft.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, March 1, after he got out of his truck. He was charged with domestic assault and battery and impeding blood circulation or respiration of a family/household member. The suspect was released on March 9 on a $3,000 unsecured bond.

“If you are a neighbor and know that an abusive incident is occurring, call the police immediately,” the city said. “Calling the police is simply the most effective way to protect the victim and children from immediate harm.”

Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
