🚨 You need to know

Eight months after the fatal stabbing in the Bradlee Shopping Center, local businesses told ABC7 that they’re still concerned about the high concentrations of teens that hang out in the center.

Workers at the shopping center told ABC7 that around 2:30 p.m., after students get out of school, the shopping center is frequently packed with students littering, yelling, and fighting.

Police have been called out to the Bradlee Shopping Center multiple times to handle issues with teens on the shopping center grounds, from an arrest last month to a teen beaten and robbed by another group of teens last May.

Meanwhile, Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is moving forward with new safety measures at schools, including new metal detectors. Separately, a group of teens surveyed by the city put together a list of suggestions to help local students, which included offering more creative, inclusive, and flexible after-school youth programs.
