A 20-year-old Alexandria man is being held without bond after allegedly shooting a woman in the face in the stairwell of a Landmark area apartment building.
The incident occurred on February 9 at around 4:45 p.m. at the Brent Place apartments at 375 S. Reynolds Street. Terrell Talley, who lives in the building, was arrested March 3 and charged with malicious wounding.
Alexandria Police did not notify the public of the incident.
The victim was shot in the right lower jaw in the stairwell of the apartment building. A witness told police that he heard shots and then saw a suspect wearing all black jump the fence behind the building, according to a search warrant affidavit.
The victim then knocked on their door and reported that she was shot.
Minutes before the incident, an inmate at the Alexandria jail called up Talley on the phone. Talley allegedly told the inmate that he was going to discipline the victim for making statements against him in public, according to the affidavit. Talley allegedly said that he was going to meet the victim at “the spot” and was about to “go hard on her.”
“On the surveillance (footage), the subject can be seen exiting the hallway into the stairwell and going towards the direction of the shooting just minutes prior,” Police said in a search warrant affidavit. “The subject can also be observed manipulating an object in his jacket pocket.”
A reverse look-up confirmed that Talley’s number was the number that was called, according to the affidavit.
“A few minutes later a second phone call was made from (the inmate) to the same phone number,” police said in the warrant. “The subject answers and appears to be breathing heavily. (The inmate) asked why it sounds like he has been running and the subject stated, ’cause I am.'”
Talley was also arrested for shooting into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in a public place in 2020. A malicious wounding charge against him was reduced to brandishing a firearm, for which he was found guilty. His firearm was seized and he was sentenced to 24 months in jail, 12 of which were suspended, and he served a year in prison. Talley was also sentenced to two years of supervised probation and three years of unsupervised probation.
Talley goes to court for this incident on April 5.
