JUST IN: Thousands without power along Quaker Lane in Alexandria

Thousands of Dominion Energy customers in a portion of Alexandria are experiencing power outages this afternoon (Monday).

Dominion Energy’s outage map shows 2,160 outages around the Taylor Run, Seminary Hill and Fairlington neighborhoods with small extensions into North Ridge and Rosemont.

As of 4:30 p.m., outages were down to 1,192.

The cause was listed as “pending investigation.” a police dispatcher said a blown transformer was behind the outage, according to the police scanner. A crew has been dispatched, and the estimated restoration time is between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Alexandria Police said several traffic signals have outages along Seminary Road and advised drivers to treat them as four-way stops. According to radio traffic, the intersections at Quaker Lane, St. Stephens Road and N. Howard Street are impacted.
