West End suspect arrested for apartment burglary one block from his home

An Alexandria man goes to court this month after being arrested for allegedly burglarizing a West End apartment a block away from where he lived and using stolen credit cards.

The resident of the apartment in the 5700 block of Dunster Court reported the theft of the credit cards after returning home on the morning of Oct. 9, 2025, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit. The victim told police the back door to the apartment was kicked in, the suspect rifled through the kitchen and stole a lockbox from his bedroom closet containing multiple credit cards and a Social Security card.

Police found that the suspect used the cards at several local grocery stores and tobacco shops and matched a fingerprint found at the victim’s apartment, according to the affidavit.

The suspect was arrested more than six months later, on April 15, at a fast food restaurant in the 6300 block of Little River Turnpike, court records say.

The suspect denied breaking into the apartment and told police that at the time of the incident he was with his brother, living one block away from the victim’s apartment, according to the affidavit.

The suspect was charged with felony credit card theft, petit larceny and entering a dwelling with intent to commit larceny (an unclassified felony).

The suspect’s preliminary court hearing is on July 10.
