The Alexandria Aces, a collegiate summer baseball team, are seeking host families to provide a “home away from home” for their players during the 2026 season.
The team, which plays wooden bat baseball games at Frank Mann Field (3700 Commonwealth Avenue), regularly seeks Alexandria families to host student-athletes. This year, the team needs hosts from May 30 to July 25.
Requirements for host families include providing a private bedroom and access to laundry facilities. In return, host families receive all-access season tickets for the Alexandria Aces and an invitation to the team’s Host Family Appreciation Night at Frank Mann Field.
“Our host families are more than just housing; they are the heartbeat of the Alexandria Aces,” said Frank Fannon, team president of the Alexandria Aces and a former City Council member. “Opening your home to these talented young men creates lifelong bonds. Many of our families have watched their former ‘house guests’ debut in the Major Leagues, but the real reward is the friendship that lasts long after the final out of the season.”
One longtime host says it has become a summer tradition.
“They aren’t just athletes on a field; they become big brothers to our children and a part of our family dinner table,” the resident said.
The Alexandria Aces are one of eight teams from D.C., Maryland and Virginia in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, a summer wooden bat baseball league. Players are recruited from major universities around the U.S., and some go on to be drafted by MLB teams.
Interested families can find more details about hosting on the Alexandria Aces website.
The Alexandria Aces will kick off their 2026 season at home June 3 against the D.C. Grays. Games will run through July, with playoffs scheduled from July 23–31. Home games at Frank Mann Field begin at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
