Sewage Spill Followed Years of Repair Delays — “The D.C.-area utility responsible for a massive sewer line that failed catastrophically in January had planned to reinforce the aging section years ago but repeatedly delayed construction as federal officials studied potential environmental impacts, including risks to a blue wildflower and an endangered bat species, a Washington Post investigation found.” [Washington Post]

Sen. Warner Responds to Pam Bondi Firing — “Attorney General Bondi’s firing follows her botched handling of the Epstein files — a failure that denied victims transparency and further undermined trust in our justice system. But this is bigger than one official. President Trump has repeatedly treated the Department of Justice like a political weapon — pressuring prosecutors, rewarding loyalty over independence, and using the machinery of federal law enforcement to pursue vengeance against his perceived enemies while shielding his allies from accountability.” [Sen. Mark Warner/Press Release]

Delegate Optimistic About Governor Signing Vehicle Noise Bill — “A local lawmaker believes legislation providing a tool to regulate excessive vehicle noise will become law this year after falling short in 2025. The measure currently sits on the desk of Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D), having passed both houses of the General Assembly earlier this year.” [FFXnow]

Washington Wizards Draw Backlash for April Fool’s Prank — “During the performance, a blindfolded fan was brought onto the court for a half-court shot with a chance to win $10,000. After the fan took the shot and missed, the host, mascots, and parts of the crowd celebrated as if he had made it. The fan was even presented with a large ceremonial $10,000 check before being shown video footage revealing that the shot had actually missed.” [MoCo Show]
