On This Day in Alexandria History — “On March 30 and 31, 1841, former President John Quincy Adams visited Edmund Jennings Lee at his home at 614 Oronoco Street. Adams had dinner and breakfast at Lee’s home, today known as the Lee-Fendall House.” [Historic Alexandria]

Alexandria Women for Good Help Women at Guest House — “Women entering the aftercare program, all formerly incarcerated, have completed the Friends of Guest House six-month residential program and are moving toward their next step of reintegrating into the community. Many of these women do not have basic household items, and Alexandria Women for Good stepped in to help make the transition a little easier and more comfortable.” [The Zebra]

Republicans Propose Gas Tax Holiday — “Virginia’s GOP lawmaker caucus on Friday proposed the state create a three-month gas tax holiday, which they said would help residents weather the surge in fuel prices amid the ongoing Iran war. Clones of ‘Stumpy’ Cherry Tree Grow at National Arboretum — “National Arboretum scientists say the young new trees are ‘healthy and thriving,’ according to a news release. And they’ve ‘reached the pinnacle achievement for the D.C. cherry trees — they flowered for the first time.'” [Northern Virginia Magazine]

Join Alexandria Library’s Walking Challenge — “The Footsteps of History program challenges you and your teammates to walk/run/bike/swim, etc. and cover 426 miles between March 30 and May 3.” [Alexandria Library]
