People in the office building, located at 2800 Eisenhower Avenue, could have been exposed to measles between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The office was reported as an exposure site in connection with two new measles cases in the region.

The measles patients are adults who recently traveled together in the country, according to VDH. The department will not release any additional information to protect patients’ privacy.

Virginia has confirmed 10 cases of measles so far this year — double the total for all of 2025. Nine of the cases have occurred in Northern Virginia. Six have involved infants and children ages 0-4 and four have involved adults 18 and older. The disease is highly contagious, spreading through the air when infected people breathe, cough or sneeze.

The Alexandria Health Department instructs people who were at the above sites to report exposures “as soon as possible.” According to AHD:

  • Report Your Exposure as soon as possible. All people who were present at the places/times above should fill out this short survey for the Virginia Department of Health. Health officials will contact you if you need to take more steps or can receive time-sensitive treatment.
  • Check Your Vaccination Status: Make sure you’ve had your recommended measles (MMR) shots. … If you’ve had two doses of measles vaccine, were born before 1957, or have had measles, then you’re considered protected and won’t need to take extra steps.
  • If you are severely immunocompromised, please talk to your doctor for specific advice or contact your local health department

Exposed people should also watch for symptoms over the next 21 days. These include a runny nose, fever over 101 degrees, a cough, rash, and red, watery eyes.

Vaccination status for immunizations within the state can be checked using the Virginia MMR record portal.

Questions about potential exposures can be sent to [email protected] or asked by calling AHD at 703-746-4988.
