Alexandria was home to the reality TV show “Queer Eye” last summer as the Fab Five filmed their tenth and final season in the D.C. area.
The Netflix show held its production headquarters in a warehouse at Van Dorn Station during a five-week shoot from late June to August 2025, Visit Alexandria spokesperson Allison O’Keefe told ALXnow. The location was coordinated through a partnership between the city of Alexandria, Visit Alexandria and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership.
A promotional social media post for the tenth season, which premieres Jan. 21, shows the Fab Five — Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown and Jeremiah Brent — walking across Royal Street’s rainbow Pride crosswalk in Old Town, which the city debuted during Pride Month in 2024.
The cast made appearances at “a few locations” in the city, O’Keefe said. Filming in Alexandria took place on July 11 and July 17, 2025.
During their stay, Visit Alexandria worked with the production team to scout filming locations and acquire film permits, while AEDP assisted in securing a production office lease. Both groups helped source local businesses for filming.
“We loved working with the ‘Queer Eye’ production team,” Visit Alexandria Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Claire Mouledoux said. “They were enthusiastic about Alexandria’s destination appeal and small business stories. We had the opportunity to see the show come together behind the scenes at a few Alexandria locations, and the entire cast and crew were incredibly gracious.”

Queer Eye’s final season will feature one last round of the show’s classic “unforgettable makeovers, this time spotlighting a group of Washingtonians,” according to a Netflix press release.
“As experts in style, grooming, interior design, culture, and food and drink, [the Fab Five] will once again work with a new group of heroes to ‘level up’ their lives with compassion, care, and plenty of Hip Tips,” Netflix wrote. “Just like the many heroes before them, these deserving D.C. residents will be pampered and given the tools to continue growing even after the Fab Five cross back beyond the Beltway.”
The reality show, which is a reboot of Bravo’s 2003 series of the same name, is Netflix’s longest-running unscripted series. Over the years, its cast has provided makeovers to more than 80 “everyday heroes.”
“The Fab Five have traveled to nine states and three countries, sharing advice and spreading kindness everywhere they go,” Netflix wrote. “What better place to memorialize all of those moving makeovers than Washington, D.C.?”
“Queer Eye” has captured 11 Emmy wins and 37 nominations while holding the record for most wins in the Outstanding Structured Reality Program category. It has also been a recipient of multiple Critics Choice Real TV Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Program.
In November, Alexandria received its sixth consecutive perfect score on the nonprofit Human Rights Campaign’s LGBTQ+ equality index scorecard.
Mouledoux said appearances in major films and shows such as “Queer Eye” can “act as powerful destination marketing, showcasing Alexandria’s charm, creativity and small businesses to a worldwide audience.”
“This kind of exposure elevates our city’s profile as an ideal place to visit, live, work and start or grow a business,” she said. “We are excited to showcase on Visit Alexandria’s website and social media channels how folks can experience Alexandria — just like the Fab 5 did — very soon.”
