Alexandria launches updated Alex311 customer service portal, app

Alex311, the city of Alexandria’s customer service program, has a new look.

The program announced the launch of its new portal today (Monday), with the latest version of its mobile app debuting next Monday, Dec. 22. The updates promise easy access and quicker navigation.

“We’ve completely redesigned Alex311,” the program’s webpage reads. “Experience a fresh, mobile-responsive design that makes it faster and easier to report issues, track requests, and connect with City services—all in one place, on any device.”

Alex311 allows users to submit requests for issues like missed leaf collection, potholes, parking, streetlight maintenance and more.

The new portal and app come as the program recently reported its highest request count in five years, with some 39,245 requests submitted throughout 2025.

“Modernizing our digital tools is central to our future work,” said Tenesia Wells, deputy director of the Department of Emergency and Customer Communications, while providing an update to City Council during its Nov. 25 meeting. “We’re particularly excited about the updated Alex 311, site, which we are calling ‘the gateway to more.’”

The Alex311 app is available for Apple and Android devices.
