Stay Alert and Safe on Roads Today — The Virginia Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to drive at lower speeds, brake early and gently and increase following distances behind other vehicles. [VDOT]

‘Giving Tuesday’ List in NoVA — The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and King Street Cats were highlighted in Northern Virginia Magazine’s list of “11 worthy NoVA options” for donations today, alongside several organizations across Arlington, Vienna and Fairfax County.  [Northern Virginia Magazine]

Taco Bell 50K Race Recap — The region’s first-ever “Taco Bell DC 50K” took place last week, starting and stopping in Old Town. “Bridget Tobias, the top female finisher, struggled to get her ninth Taco Bell order down at the Taco Bell Cantina in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, after running the ultramarathon. ‘By the end, I think my body was just rejecting any form of tortilla. Whether it was fried or soft, it did not want any more,’ Tobias told WTOP.” [WTOP]

AG-Elect Takes Action on Background Checks —  “Attorney General–Elect Jay Jones [yesterday] announced that he has filed a motion with the Virginia Court of Appeals seeking an extension of the Commonwealth’s deadline to file a notice of appeal in Wilson v. Hanley … Without swift action, the right to appeal and the Commonwealth’s ability to defend the constitutionality of its own laws would expire [Monday], Dec. 1, 2025. Despite defending the law in the trial court, Attorney General Jason Miyares has taken no action to protect the Commonwealth’s appeal rights and has not responded to multiple inquiries from Attorney General–Elect Jones’s office.” [Attorney General-Elect Jay Jones]

City, Ms. Moxie’s Hosting ‘Period Products 101’ — “Join us this Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the William Ramsay Recreation Center for an open, honest conversation about periods and the wide range of products available to manage them—from pads and tampons to menstrual cups and more. It’s Tuesday — Rain mixed with sleet is expected until 2 p.m., followed by a chance of rain between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with highs near 40°F. Light and variable winds will turn northwest at 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Precipitation is guaranteed, but sleet accumulation will be minimal.
