These holiday toy drives in Alexandria are still accepting donations

A number of local toy drives are still accepting donations, hoping to bring joy to thousands of kids in and around Alexandria this holiday season.

The deadline to donate to the following toy and gift card drives is just around the corner.

Annual Community Toy Drive with Volunteer Alexandria 

This fundraiser and toy drive aims to support more than 300 local families and 700 children. Donations will go to families supported through The Fund for Alexandria’s Child, The Miracle League of Alexandria, The Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse Center and other organizations.

  • The last day to drop off toy donations is Thursday, Dec. 11. The drive is also accepting monetary donations.
  • Volunteers are needed to pick up toys at dozens of collection sites across the city
  • Collection sites include businesses like Port City Brewing Company, the Potomac Yard Barnes & Noble and St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub

Toy and Gift Card Drive with the Alexandria Domestic Violence Program and Sexual Assault Center

  • Donations are being accepted through Thursday, Dec. 11 at 123 N. Pitt Street
  • The drive is also accepting gift cards from Target, Walmart, Amazon, VISA, CVS, Walgreens and other local grocery stores

Operation Elf with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office

This annual holiday program provides gifts to the children of inmates.

  • Donations will be accepted through Tuesday, Dec. 16
  • Donors can find gifts on the ASO’s Amazon wishlist

The ALX Closet on the fifth floor of 4850 Mark Center Drive is also accepting continuous donations of new or like-new clothing, diapers and hygiene items for families in need from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
