The historic Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House site is collecting non-perishable food donations in exchange for admission discounts this holiday season.
Now through Dec. 29, guests who bring one canned good to the Woodlawn admissions desk can receive a 10% discount on individual tour admission. The food drive comes as the museums aim to provide non-perishable, shelf-stable foods in “waterproof food pantries” outside the front gates at the Quaker Meeting House.
Until a permanent pantry is constructed, a temporary pantry is accessible through the parking lot during opening hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Monday.

The historic site decided to launch the food drive and pantry after staff noticed “a significant increase in the numbers of people in our neighborhood reaching out to area organizations for food assistance,” Interim Executive Director Heather Johnson said in a release yesterday (Tuesday).
“We hope to fill this need and serve the community with these food pantries,” Johnson said. “When we put a call out to our partners and collaborators for help, they immediately responded with monetary and in-kind food donations. We are extremely grateful for their support of our community.”
Also through the end of 2025, the museum will continue to offer half-price tour admission tickets to federal employees affected by the previous government shutdown.
The Museums For All program also provides $2 general tour tickets to up to four people for guests who show an EBT card and photo ID.
