More than 2,300 Dominion Energy customers in Alexandria will wake up on Friday (June 20) without power.
The outage comes following a severe thunderstorm that hit the area just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, bringing heavy rain and high winds to the area. 8,894 of Dominion Energy’s 70,325 customers in Alexandria were without power around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Those still without power are scattered across the city, with some customers located in Seminary Hill, Arlandria, Old Town, and Del Ray.
According to Dominion Energy’s outage map, Dominion Energy is assessing the situation and does not yet offer an estimated time of restoration.
The Alexandria Police are warning on social media about traffic light power outages across the city.
Currently there are many traffic light outages & downed trees & power lines in the city. Please treat intersections as a 4way stop. Note: N Howard is closed between Seminary & W Braddock impacting entry to the hospital. Use alternate route & proceed with caution.
