After seven years in Alexandria, Glory Days Grill permanently closed its doors on Duke Street on Monday, May 26.

The sports-themed family restaurant chain, which has 39 corporate and franchised restaurants in six states, shared the following note on social media:

Dear Glory Days Grill Patrons,

After 7 years of serving the community of Alexandria with passion and dedication, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. The decision to close was not made lightly, circumstances evolve.

Our last day of business is Monday, May 26th.

We extend our warmest appreciation to our dedicated team members and our valued patrons.

Thank you for being a part of Glory Days Grill in Alexandria, (and) you can visit us at other locations throughout the Virginia area.

Alexandria’s Pat Malone sang the restaurant’s praises over the years, saying he was there when the Nationals won the World Series in 2019 and when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup the year before.

“It was a place to drop in and watch great sports,” Malone said. “It’s a big loss for so many people who would come in to be with friends and family, to have great experiences, to watch sports, and to have great food. It’s going to be a big loss for a lot of folks in the city, and when you look back at seven years, all of a sudden it’s gone.”
