🚨 You need to know

Ben Brenman Park will be buzzing with activity today as Alexandria hosts its Eco-City Festival. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can enjoy this free, family-friendly event that showcases sustainable programs and teaches eco-friendly practices.
The festival offers a mix of fun and education, with activities ranging from an electric vehicle (EV) showcase to test drives of the latest EVs, e-bikes, and scooters. Visitors can also engage in hands-on games that focus on sustainability.
Over 50 vendors and exhibits are spread across two main areas: the Field Area and Electric Avenue. Here, attendees can interact with local organizations, businesses, and city departments that are championing green initiatives.
The Field Area is home to booths representing various environmental causes. Don’t miss the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Electric School Bus and DASH Electric Bus on display in the EV Showcase.
For EV enthusiasts, Electric Avenue is the place to be. Major manufacturers like Ford, GM, Hyundai, and Nissan have dealership tables set up. Visitors can sign up for test drives and check out micromobility options like e-bikes and scooters.
Families will find plenty to keep them entertained, including a bounce house, rock climbing wall, and bike-powered art activities. When hunger strikes, local food trucks are on hand to provide refreshments.
City departments are also getting in on the action. The Office of Climate Action, Planning and Zoning, and Transportation and Environmental Services are offering information on flood action, water quality, and resource recovery initiatives.
Organizers encourage attendees to use sustainable transportation to get to the event. For those cycling, there’s a convenient bike valet service available on-site.
