The PNC Alexandria Half Marathon‘s debut on April 27 brought nearly 5,800 participants to Old Town, raising over $20,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Alexandria.
This new event, which replaces the PNC Parkway Classic, included a half-marathon, 5K, and kids’ dash. Pacers Running organized the race, and PNC Bank was the main sponsor.
The turnout was impressive, with 3,675 runners signing up for the half marathon, 1,788 for the 5K, and 326 for the kids’ dash. 4,500 athletes completed their races – 3,075 in the half marathon and 1,425 in the 5K.
Starting at Market Square, the 13.1-mile course traveled through Old Town and along the George Washington Parkway.
Kyle Bratrud, 32, won the men’s half marathon, clocking in at 1:08:25. Connor Wooding, 24, came in second at 1:08:54, with Kevin Cory, 27, taking third at 1:09:30.
Sydney Leiher, 30, led the women’s division with a time of 1:17:50.
In the 5K, Andrew Cantor, 33, finished first overall in 16:10, while Carmen Garson-Shumway, 28, topped the women’s category at 17:19.

Runners directly donated $9,913.85 to the Boys & Girls Club of Alexandria. According to a race spokesperson, with additional contributions from Pacers Running and money raised at the post-race Beer Garden, the total support exceeded $20,000.
