A new cafe has been proposed on King in Old Town.

An administrative special use permit was filed to open Kingsley Cafe on the first floor of 910 King Street. Submitted plans show an extensive interior renovation of the 900-square-foot townhouse built in 1900.

Business owner, Kahan S. Dhillon, Jr., a 2020 independent candidate for Baltimore mayor, plans on a small cafe serving beverages and food with 10 indoor seats in a tea room, a kitchen area, a single bathroom and a housekeeping area.

The proposed hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The cafe will have some nearby competition from Misha’s Coffeehouse and Roaster (917 King Street), Turkish Coffee Lady (1001 King Street), and ESP Tea and Coffee (1012 King Street).

The last day for public comments on the project is May 15, after which the project can be approved by the city’s director of planning and zoning.
