More charges have been filed against a 34-year-old Alexandria man accused of firing and brandishing a handgun from his car at other drivers.

Perry Ellis Barmore was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and released to home detention last month for multiple road rage incidents in Maryland in 2024. On April 18, Barmore was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Maryland State Police and charged with attempted murder and felony assault.

The first incident was reported at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 24, 2024, in the 11300 block of White House Road in Upper Marlboro. The victim told police that they and a passenger were behind a gray Jeep with Virginia tags that was “driving slowly or not continuing with the flow of traffic,” and beeped their horn at the Jeep, which “braked quickly and unexpectedly in response,” according to the search warrant affidavit.

The victims passed the Jeep, which they said then sped up. As both vehicles were driving the same speed, the victims said that the driver of the Jeep pulled alongside,  rolled down his window, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun with a silver barrel and fired it, according to the search warrant affidavit.

The victims managed to get a picture of the Jeep’s license plate, which they shared with police.

According to the search warrant affidavit, Barmore was driving the Jeep when it crashed in Alexandria on Jan. 26.

On Feb. 25, at around 5 p.m., Maryland State Police received an emergency call from a driver on the outer loop of Interstate 495 going across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge from Alexandria into Prince George’s County.

The victim told police that a gray Jeep with Virginia tags was cutting them off in traffic, brake-checking, and forcing them into a traffic barrier. The victim, who was being followed by a coworker, got into another lane, and saw the driver of the Jeep pull alongside and point a handgun at them.

The victim’s coworker also took a video of the suspect in the Jeep pointing the gun, and submitted it to police as evidence.

Barmore is awaiting extradition to Maryland, according to the Maryland State Police.
