The Alexandria Police Department announced on Saturday (April 12) that the suspect wanted for Friday’s armed robbery of the Stage Door Deli (1324 King Street) in Old Town has been safely apprehended.
According to APD:
Dexter Brown has been safely apprehended and is in police custody. Thank you for sharing this information and assisting us in the safety of our community.
APD identified Dexter Brown as the suspect in Friday’s incident, which occurred at around 10:30 a.m. APD released a Wanted Person announcement and said that Brown was armed and dangerous.
Images from the incident reveal Brown inside the downstairs area of O’Shaughnessy’s Pub, which is connected to the deli.
Brown is a former employee at the restaurant, according to deli staff.
As previously reported, a USPS driver called 911 after hearing multiple gunshots inside the Stage Door Deli and then witnessing an employee race out of the front door of the business.
The caller told an APD dispatcher that he saw a man by the register demanding that it be opened, and the dispatcher alerted officers that the suspect took money from the register and told a clerk to shut their mouth.
APD confirmed that multiple shots were fired and that there were no injuries.
