City, AEDP hosting survey and a series of events to gather public input on Alexandria’s economy

The City of Alexandria is asking residents for input on shaping its economic future. The city government and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP) have launched several initiatives to gather community feedback.

A survey is now available in English, Spanish, Amharic, and Arabic until April 16. This confidential questionnaire aims to collect insights on the challenges and opportunities facing Alexandria’s economy.

The city encourages residents to participate, stating, “We want to hear your thoughts. Take the survey today to help inform the upcoming Economic Summit.”

Following the survey, a community conversation is set for April 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe Street). This event will provide information on regional and national economic trends, as well as successful post-pandemic commercial uses.

The initiative will wrap up with an Economic Summit on May 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. at a location still to be announced. The summit will present national and regional economic trends, Alexandria’s economic development strategies, and initial findings on strengthening the city’s economy.

These findings will be based on the community survey, the April 10 session, research, and other engagement sessions led by the consulting team TIP Strategies.

The city encourages residents to participate in any or all of these events to contribute to the conversation about Alexandria’s economic future.
