Free Expungement Clinic on April 26 will assist residents in clearing Alexandria criminal records

Alexandria is hosting an expungement clinic on Saturday, April 26, as part of Second Chance Month. The clinic will give residents a chance to clear their criminal records.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe Street), is designed to help people expunge court and police records that originated in Alexandria.

The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office shared details about the event on its Facebook Page, saying “The clinic will help people interested in learning about the expungement process and expunging court and police records that originated in the City of Alexandria. ASO will provide fingerprinting at the clinic and we encourage people who can benefit from this service to make plans to attend. Thanks to our sponsors, mandatory filing fees will be covered”.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter and Public Defender Megan Thomas are backing the event, along with Delegate Charniele Herring and Clerk of Circuit Court Greg Parks.

To be eligible, you need to have no active arrest warrants, and all charges you want expunged must be from Alexandria. There’s no need to pre-register.

Several organizations are sponsoring the clinic, including the Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association, John Marshall Bank, and the NAACP Alexandria Branch.
