The Alexandria Police Department came together on Saturday to spruce up Charles W. Hill Park, the park pays tribute to Corporal Charlie Hill who died on duty 36 years ago. Members of the Special Operations Team, Hostage Negotiations Team, and Tactical Support Unit rolled up their sleeves for the cleanup effort.

Located at 300 E Oxford Ave., the park is named after Corporal Hill, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the late 1980s.

In a Facebook post about the event, the Alexandria Police Department simply stated, “We will not forget.”

Charles W. Hill Park offers visitors shaded areas to sit, a walking path, and open green space for casual activities. The Alexandria Police Special Operations unit has taken on the responsibility of maintaining the park.
