A nonprofit serving Arlandria’s Latino community is trying to raise some big bucks before the end of the year.

After a disappointing Spring2ACTion fundraiser earlier this year, Casa Chirilagua is trying to raise $120,000 to fund their programming to serve 400+ people, and also keep the lights on. The deadline for giving is Dec. 31.

So far about 15% of the goal has been raised, said new Executive Director Hjarman Cordero.

“We do a lot for the people in the community, especially for the heart of the people in the community,” Cordero said. “It’s all through healing and hope, and that’s something that I think we all need to work a little bit on.”

Casa Chirilagua provides language classes, an after-school program for first-to-fifth graders, mentoring and more.

The organization raised $90,410 in this year’s Spring2ACTion fundraiser, significantly down from the $167,974 last year.
