Two Alexandria brothers were hospitalized with serious injuries after a fight in the West End earlier this month, and one of them was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

The Alexandria Police Department responded to a stabbing call for service at an apartment in the 500 block of N. Armistead Street on Sunday, July 7. Police arrived and found the brothers on the floor of the apartment, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

A witness told police that one of the brothers hit the other over the head with a crowbar and that the injured brother’s juvenile child then stabbed the brother with the crowbar in the back, according to the search warrant affidavit.

The juvenile admitted to stabbing his uncle in the back “to prevent him from killing his father,” according to the search warrant affidavit.

The brothers were transported to different hospitals, one to Inova Fairfax Hospital with severe non-life threatening injuries, and the other to Inova Alexandria Hospital with severe non-life threatening injuries to his face.

Both brothers refused to cooperate with police, but the brother who allegedly used the crowbar was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

“I’m not going to lie to you,” the brother at Inova Alexandria Hospital told police, according to the search warrant affidavit. “I’m not gonna really tell you the truth because that’s my brother.”

The Alexandria Sexual Assault Center and Domestic Violence Program is available 24/7 to listen and help at 703-746-4911.

“If you are a neighbor and know that an abusive incident is occurring, call the police immediately,” the city said. “Calling the police is simply the most effective way to protect the victim and children from immediate harm.”
