Alexandria Little League’s All-Star Intermediate baseball players are heading to the Intermediate Baseball State Tournament, and they won’t have to travel far.

Eight teams of 13-and-under players from across Virginia will participate in the tournament, which will be held at Alexandria’s Eugene Simpson Stadium Park.

The Alexandria Little League All-Stars Intermediates went undefeated in a recent tournament, winning five games to clinch the district. Alexandria defeated Arlington 10-6.

“It’s extra exciting for us that our team made the state tournament that we are hosting,” said Alexandria Little League President Laura Engel. “We provide a thriving and dynamic recreational baseball and softball experience across the city, and we’re really proud of the growth and engagement in the community to help us develop diamond sports in Alexandria.”

The games will start at 4 p.m. on July 5. Participating teams include:

  • District 4: Alexandria Little League
  • District 5: Huguenot Little League
  • District 7: Hampton York Little League
  • District 9: Woodlawn Little League
  • District 12: Roanoke City Little League
The remaining three teams are still playing in their respective district level tournaments.
