A bit of a slower news week in Alexandria.
The fight over the Potomac Yard arena was still ongoing and Metro funding got tied up into the mix.
Over the weekend, Sen. Louise Lucas took Metro funding out of the State Senate’s proposed budget. Lucas had previously also removed the Potomac Yard arena proposals from the docket at the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee.
There were signs that Metro funding could still move forward, like Metro GM Randy Clarke tweeting positively about a meeting with Lucas.
Thx you @SenLouiseLucas for spending time with the @wmata team discussing the value Metro brings to Virginia. Appreciate you wanting to discuss the #wmata longterm funding model so we can be even more effective getting people to jobs, healthcare & education opportunities. pic.twitter.com/92q8gzhAMs

In a poll, 57% of respondents (495 votes) said they supported fully funding Metro but not the arena.
