Notes: Yet another snowy day with service delays in Alexandria

❄️ Today’s weather: Expect snow mainly before 1pm with a high near 32, and a northeast wind at 6-9 mph becoming northwest later. The chance of precipitation is 90%, with 1-3 inches of new snow accumulation possible. Friday night, there’s a slight chance of snow before 1am, with clouds clearing gradually and a low of 19. The northwest wind will be 9-11 mph and the chance of precipitation is 20%.

It’s another snowy day in Alexandria.

The Department of Transportation & Environmental Services mobilized snow and ice crews at 7 p.m. last night and are working on clearing the city streets.

Alexandria City Public Schools students have the day off with yet another traditional snow day, just a few days after students got a snow day on Tuesday and a two-hour delay on Wednesday.

City offices are closed until 10 a.m. today and courts are closed.

Earlier this week, trash collection shifted back a day, but the city said in a release that all trash, recycling and yard waste collection is suspended for the rest of the week, with regular collection services resuming next week.
