Notes: Alexandria Chief Deputy Shahram Fard hired as Falls Church Police Chief

Shahram Fard, chief deputy with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, was hired this week as the new City of Falls Church Police Chief.

Fard has served in both Alexandria’s Sheriff’s Office and the City of Alexandria Police Department, where he was deputy chief of police.

He has also held leadership positions in the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and is currently an adjunct faculty member with the George Mason University Department of Criminology, Law and Society, according to a release from Falls Church.

“I am deeply honored to have been chosen as the Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety for the City of Falls Church,” Fard said in the release. “I am eagerly looking forward to collaborating with everyone in the City of Falls Church community to provide exceptional public safety services.”

Fard will take office starting Jan. 22.
