Two hundred children and their parents were served breakfast, met Santa, and got gifts from a local nonprofit last week.

The Debra D. Smith Foundation honors a local woman who died of colon cancer in 2017. The nonprofit is run by Smith’s son, Elijah Griffin, and his wife Michele.

The Foundation raises money for scholarships for local seniors and runs the annual Breakfast with Santa.

“We really appreciate all those who contributed with their time and donations to help us put on such a successful event,” Elijah Griffin wrote on Facebook. “Thank you to the Departmental Progressive Club for hosting this event.”
