The Living Legends of Alexandria award is one of those unique Alexandria things that has a level of prestige and pedigree unlike nearly any other award in the region. Now, nominations are open for the award.

Recipients do not need to live in the City of Alexandria, only to have significantly impacted and improved the quality of life in Alexandria.

“The mission of Living Legends of Alexandria is to identify, honor, and chronicle the lives of individuals who have contributed to the community in an exemplary and lasting way that has significantly impacted the quality of life in Alexandria and serves as an inspiration to others,” the Living Legends of Alexandria website said.

The website also notes that only individuals or teams of two are eligible to be nominated. Anyone running for or currently holding an elected office is not eligible for nomination, nor are current members of the Living Legends of Alexandria Board of Directors or employees.

Nominations are due Jan. 31.
