Facilities, including Goodwin Living and Woodbine Rehabilitation, are contributing $420,000 to a 13-month program training students to become licensed practical nurses.

The Alexandria Times reported that the facilities face a severe shortage in the industry, with causes including an aging workforce, poor working conditions, and burnout from the pandemic. In all, there’s a projected 10-20% shortage of manpower in patient care by 2030.
