Former pet store Nature’s Nibbles at 2601 Mount Vernon Avenue has a new life as a hub for Alexandrians in need.
Nonprofit ALIVE! hosted a grand opening yesterday for a new center that will help handle food insecurity. ALIVE! said in an Instagram post that the new Food Hub will support Del Ray and the West End.
According to the post:
For a long time, the team at ALIVE! hoped to be able to provide a place for people facing food insecurity to visit and receive the food of their choosing. And thanks to the support of the city and this community we have been able to open two food hubs to serve our city.
This is about more than food. This is about people and helping them connect to the many great services and programs our city has to offer so that people can thrive. This Food Hub will be a place of dignity, safety, and community, and this is a place we are glad to share.
