Alexandria will temporarily shut down the streets surrounding City Hall on Monday as part of preparations for the City Hall Renovation Project.

N. Royal Street will close to traffic between Cameron Street and King Street from 7 a.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. Parking will also be prohibited on that section of road from Thursday, Nov. 13 to Thursday, Nov. 20.

Alexandria drivers should expect delays and exercise extra caution this morning at the intersection of Duke Street and Walker Avenue, where ongoing traffic signal work is affecting the morning commute.

The Alexandria Police Department issued an alert at 7:42 a.m. Wednesday advising motorists that work is being performed on the traffic light at the busy intersection. Officers are currently on scene directing traffic to maintain safety and flow.

The Alexandria Police Department has temporarily shut down the northbound right lane of Richmond Highway at the Monroe Avenue Bridge after a crash between a vehicle and a tractor-trailer.

No emergency crews were on-scene and the vehicles are pulled over on the side of the road. The crash was reported at around 12:30 p.m., and the roadway was still partially shut down as of 1 p.m.

A section of Diagonal Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic on Monday, July 14, as construction crews conduct crane operations in the area.

The City of Alexandria announced that Diagonal Road between Duke Street and King Street will be shut down from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the construction work. Through traffic will be rerouted to Daingerfield Road during the closure.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, drivers on Interstate 395 near the Pentagon on Friday and Saturday night can expect traffic shifts in both directions.

The work is part of a project to repair joints and other “minor” repairs at several bridges on I-395.

The PNC Alexandria Half Marathon will debut in Old Town on Sunday, April 27. It will feature a half-marathon, a 5K, and a kids’ dash.

This event, produced by Pacers Running and sponsored by PNC Bank, is an evolution of the long-running PNC Parkway Classic. The 13.1-mile course begins at Market Square (301 King St.) and extends through Old Town down the George Washington Parkway. Additional roads surrounding City Hall and Market Square will be closed for race set-up.

A motor vehicle collision has closed an eastbound lane on Duke Street.

Alexandria Police Department (APD) shared on social media on Monday (April 14) at 2:29 p.m. that eastbound Duke Street is closed to one lane due to a collision involving three vehicles. According to APD, there are serious injuries.

Travelers along the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge should expect delays tonight and tomorrow morning owing to bridge maintenance.

“The Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge is scheduled for bridge maintenance openings from Thursday, February 13th, 10 p.m., through Friday, February 14th, 5 a.m., weather permitting,” the City of Alexandria said in an alert. “There will be multiple openings and traffic stops during this timeframe.”
