A 14-year-old boy on an electric bike suffered non-life threatening injuries after a crash involving a car in Arlandria on Wednesday night, according to scanner traffic.
The crash occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 4100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue. The teen was transported to a hospital in an ambulance.
A felonious assault charge from an incident on Monday night has turned to a second-degree murder charge after the victim died today.
Ricky Dehate, 48, is charged with second-degree murder.

Alexandria is pursuing a Federal grant to help hire more police officers for patrol and investigations units left understaffed by higher-priority investigations.

The victim’s girlfriend called police on May 5 and reported that she was the victim of domestic assault and battery at her home in the 700 block of N. Ripley Street, according to a search warrant affidavit. The woman told police that her boyfriend threatened her and that he was known to carry a firearm.
After being stolen from a West End home and chased by police in a “dangerous” pursuit last month, a 2023 Land Rover has been recovered.

At around 7:30 a.m., the victim reported to the Alexandria Police Department that her kitchen window was open and the window screen was broken. Her purse and keys were gone and so was her recently purchased 2023 Land Rover, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said the two shootings on Saturday are believed to be unrelated.

First, a man was shot in the Arlandria neighborhood around 7:45 p.m. Saturday. The shooting happened on the 3800 block of Florence Drive, in the parking lot of an apartment building, and was phoned in to 911 by a child caller, according to scanner traffic.
