(Updated 4:20 p.m.) A video posted this weekend by citizen journalism page Alexandria Accountability shows an Alexandria Police Department vehicle with a display in the passenger seat that seems to mock police brutality victims George Floyd and Eric Garner.

The Alexandria Accountability footage shows a propped-up figure with a cartoon pig head, a black domino mask, and a shirt with the words “I Can’t Breathe” — the last words of Eric Garner, an unarmed Black man killed by a New York City Police Officer in 2014, and were said later by George Floyd in 2020 when he was murdered by Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said a woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a driver on Duke Street yesterday.

APD said around 9:46 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the Duke and Paxton Streets intersection.

A 31-year-old Alexandria man is out on bond after being charged with allegedly brandishing a firearm and impersonating a police officer in the parking garage of his West End apartment complex. A search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded a firearm, stun gun, handcuffs, zip ties and a Geek Squad badge.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in the 2800 block of Park Center Drive. Two tow truck employees were in the parking garage, when they saw a white BMW drive out of the garage and made eye contact with the driver, police said in a recently released search warrant affidavit.

Alexandria police investigated multiple felony assault calls over the weekend.

Monday morning, around 4 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute at 200 block of Bluestone Road. According to the scanner, a woman told police her boyfriend had attacked her.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by the Alexandria Police Department on charges related to an armed robbery and shooting in September that left one victim hospitalized.

On Sept. 22, a male victim, age 21, was seriously injured in an armed robbery on the 5500 block of Holmes Run Parkway. The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said the victim was left in serious but stable condition after being shot in the robbery — scanner traffic at the time indicated the man was shot in the shoulder and the back of the neck.

The days of being required to wear masks in public are definitely over. An Alexandria man is being held without bond for allegedly selling Schedule I/II drugs, wearing a mask in public and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The Alexandria Police Department arrested the 25-year-old suspect after responding to a drug complaint outside an apartment building in the 3200 block of Commonwealth Avenue in the city’s Del Ray neighborhood, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

(Updated 12:17 p.m.) A man reported that he was stabbed in the leg in Arlandria early this morning, but reportedly refused medical attention after calling 911, according to the police scanner.

The victim called 911 at around 1:45 a.m. and told a dispatcher that he was stabbed in the leg in the 3900 block of Old Dominion Boulevard, near the intersection with Four Mile Road.

(Updated 7 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating a hit-and-run in the Braddock neighborhood that left a 15-year-old male pedestrian in the hospital.

APD Communications Manager Tracy Walker said one pedestrian, a juvenile, was injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
