(Updated 10 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department is investigating two reports of gunshots over the weekend in the Seminary Valley neighborhood.

No injuries were reported from both incidents. The first occurred on Friday night (Dec. 8) at around 10:15 p.m. when an APD officer reported shots fired in the 5300 block of Taney Avenue. The officer chased two suspects on foot, but both eluded her by running through a neighborhood of townhomes, according to scanner traffic.

A 48-year-old Alexandria man was charged last month with illegally discharging a firearm in his back yard in the Potomac West neighborhood of Alexandria.

The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at around 9:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Aspen Street, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

(Updated 1:55 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the late night robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Old Town.

Police said via dispatch that a Black male wearing a gray shirt, black hoodie, black ski mask, black puffy coat and black and white sneakers walked into the store at 800 Franklin Street, displayed a silver-colored handgun and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

(Updated at 2:35 p.m.) Alexandria police arrested a West End man on Sunday afternoon for allegedly brandishing a handgun against his neighbor outside of their apartment complex.

The incident occurred at around 2:45 p.m. in a parking lot in the 2200 block of N. Beauregard Street. Police confirmed that there was a brandishing incident by speaking with witnesses at the scene, and the suspect and the victim were screaming at each other, according to the police scanner.

(Updated 9:35 a.m.) After being unable to find a handgun or shell casing, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in a West End apartment building as “suspicious.”

The shooting occurred in an apartment in the 300 block of S. Whiting Street at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 29), according to APD. The call to police was made by a person who said that the victim shot himself, but APD could not find a firearm or shell casing at the scene, according to scanner traffic.

A 31-year-old Alexandria man is out on bond after being charged with allegedly brandishing a firearm and impersonating a police officer in the parking garage of his West End apartment complex. A search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded a firearm, stun gun, handcuffs, zip ties and a Geek Squad badge.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in the 2800 block of Park Center Drive. Two tow truck employees were in the parking garage, when they saw a white BMW drive out of the garage and made eye contact with the driver, police said in a recently released search warrant affidavit.

A 34-year-old Arlington man is being held without bond after allegedly robbing his girlfriend’s ex of his clothes and other items at gunpoint.

The suspect was arrested for armed robbery on Sept. 14, nearly two months after the July 18 incident.

Alexandria City Public Schools saw a 26% increase in student arrests last school year, and a disproportionate number of arrested students are Black males.

There were 58 ACPS students arrested last school year, according to a school safety report to be presented to the School Board on Thursday. There were also 32 weapons-related incidents, 100 students injured, 112 fights/assaults and five reports of sexual misconduct.

The Alexandria Police Department says it is investigating multiple weapons violations over the weekend, including a man who was shot in the shoulder in a suspected carjacking in the West End.

The first incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 17, around midnight in the 2000 block of N. Beauregard Street. The victim reported to police that her Airbnb guest pulled a handgun on her and fled the area in a black Kia Forte, according to the police scanner.

Two male juveniles were arrested after an armed robbery on the bike trail between the King St. and Braddock Road Metro stations on Saturday night.

No one was injured in the incident at Metro Linear Park, which occurred at around 11 p.m., according to dispatch reports.

A 22-year-old Maryland man has been charged with the murders of an Alexandria man in 2022 and a Bristow man in 2021, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

On July 10, police arrested Corde Fitzhugh-Clingman, of Hyattsville, and charged him with two counts of first degree murder while armed for the 2022 death of 26-year-old Zekariya Elmi, of Alexandria, and the 2021 death of 24 year-old Muntsier Sharfi, of Bristow.
