Speed limits on Edsall Road and S. Pickett Street in the West End will be reduced from 35 to 25 mph in April.

The reduction will apply to the full length of Edsall Road from S. Pickett Street to the city limits, and Yoakum Parkway between Stevenson Avenue and Edsall Road.

The Alexandria Police Department arrested a Woodbridge teenager in Landmark this month after he was allegedly found in possession of fentanyl, more than seven ounces of marijuana, a loaded handgun and nearly $1,500 in cash.

The 17-year-old suspect agreed to meet an undercover APD officer on Dec. 11 to sell five fentanyl pills in a parking lot at the 5700 block of Edsall Road, after he had advertised selling drugs on Instagram. His arrest followed an undercover operation that began in October, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) briefly shut down two lanes of I-395 and received an escort from Virginia State Police and Safety Service Patrol.

The Alexandria Police Department says it is investigating multiple weapons violations over the weekend, including a man who was shot in the shoulder in a suspected carjacking in the West End.

The first incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 17, around midnight in the 2000 block of N. Beauregard Street. The victim reported to police that her Airbnb guest pulled a handgun on her and fled the area in a black Kia Forte, according to the police scanner.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating two back-to-back shootings early Sunday and Monday in the West End.

Police were notified of multiple gunshots on Sunday at around 2 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Pickett Street near Holmes Run. Officers in the area heard the shots, according to scanner traffic, although no injuries were reported or arrests made.
