Juveniles have been identified as the suspects behind an assault by mob in Old Town North that resulted in a man’s death.

The victim, later identified as 54-year-old John Andreadakis, was lying down in the community room of The Bloom apartment building at 900 N. Henry Street at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, when seven suspects were captured on surveillance video walking into the room, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

A GoFundMe has been launched for Deaundre Jack, the victim of last Saturday’s (April 19) homicide in the West End.

The 19-year-old Jack was shot and killed in the parking lot of 22 Canterbury Square, and his death remains under investigation by the Alexandria Police Department. The fundraiser has so far exceeded its $5,000 goal by raising $5,360 as of 1:30 p.m. Friday (April 25).

A man was shot to death Saturday night (April 19) in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Police Department found an adult male with a light pulse and suffering from two gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Canterbury Square apartment complex near Holmes Run and Duke Street at around 10:15 p.m, according to the police scanner.

The 19-year-old victim of Wednesday night’s (April 16) hit-and-run on King Street has succumbed to his injuries.

The Alexandria Police Department has identified the victim as Abdullahi Mumin and said that he succumbed to his injuries at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mumin was struck near the intersection of King Street and Dawes Avenue, at around 8:40 p.m.

A man’s body was discovered floating by the pier at Jones Point Park today in Old Town.

The Alexandria Police Department says that it is conducting a death investigation. A park security officer discovered the body near the shore just at around 12:15 p.m., according to APD dispatches.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said it is investigating the fatal shooting of a man inside the Southern Towers apartment complex.

Police said the man was found with an apparent gunshot wound but the cause of death remains under investigation.

One person is dead after a fire at a homeless encampment near Holmes Run Park in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Fire Department discovered the fire under an overpass in the 4600 block of Duke Street, near the entrance to Holmes Run Park and the Shoppes at Foxchase. The Friday night fire was reported at around 10:45 p.m. by a resident in a nearby apartment building, according to AFD dispatches.

The Alexandria Police Department says that the shooting death of a 23-year-old resident Saturday night (Oct. 19) is a homicide, and released the identity of the victim.

Carl Harris was found in a parking lot of an apartment building in the 800 block of Manor Road just before 8 p.m. He was put into an SUV and driven to Inova Alexandria Hospital, but was dead on arrival, according to police dispatches.

Kwakai Frazier’s mom says her son had no enemies and was at the wrong place at the wrong time when he was shot and killed last Thursday night (Sept. 19) in Alexandria’s Braddock neighborhood. She also says that police carried her son from the crime scene to an ambulance, and fears that doing so could have led to his death.

In a vigil that lasted more than an hour, a large, silently respectful crowd laid flowers, candles and balloons in the courtyard where the 25-year-old Frazier was shot. Frazier and two others were shot, and Frazier later succumbed to his injuries.

A man was killed by electrocution in Del Ray today while working in a tree with a chainsaw, according to dispatch reports.

The incident occurred at around 10:10 a.m. in the area of West Mount Ida Avenue and Hickory Street. The man was in the tree with a chainsaw when witnesses told the Alexandria Fire Department that he was electrocuted when a branch fell and hit a power line, according to dispatch.
