Alexandria Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in the Landmark area of the West End on Sunday night (April 17).

The 32-year-old victim was did not seek medical attention and there have been no arrests, police said. The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. in the 500 block of S. Van Dorn Street.

Alexandria Police are investigating a road rage incident where a female driver pepper allegedly assaulted two people in the 2800 block of Park Center Drive with pepper spray.

The incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 14. The 28-year-old male victim and 49-year-old female victim were sprayed in the face and declined to go to the hospital.

A 34-year-old Alexandria man was arrested for a domestic dispute with a woman on the evening of April 11 (Monday) in the city’s North Ridge neighborhood, and was charged with strangulation, assault and battery and public intoxication.

The incident occurred outside in the 1400 block of Dogwood Drive, and the 26-year-old female victim was injured and did not immediately seek medical attention after the incident, according to police.

A 31-year-old Prince William County woman, who claimed to be five months pregnant, was arrested last month for drug possession in Old Town.

At around 10:40 p.m. on (Friday) March 25, the woman was parked with a friend in a silver Kia in the unit block of Oronoco Street, which is near Founders Park in Old Town. The Kia had temporary registration plates from Texas, and the woman admitted to an Alexandria Police officer that she’d been drinking and was 20 weeks pregnant, according to a search warrant affidavit.

A 28-year-old Alexandria man is being held without bond for allegedly using a butcher knife to rob a man in the city’s Arlandria neighborhood.

Terrance Farrington was arrested and charged with using force during a robbery not long after the incident occurred in the 600 block of Notabene Drive on (Tuesday) April 12. The victim told police the robbery occurred as he walked outside his apartment building to throw something away in a dumpster. The suspect allegedly walked up and grabbed gold necklaces from his neck and took his glasses.

A 22-year-old woman was robbed of cash and personal items by multiple people in the early morning hours of April 8 (Friday) in the 200 block of Lynhaven Drive, according to Alexandria Police.

The woman was not injured and there have been no arrests. There have been no arrests and police would not say whether the suspects  had weapons.

David Jasante Cunningham was formally indicted on Monday (April 11) for the murder of Melia Jones in her West End apartment last December, and has also been charged with two counts of object sexual penetration.

The 40-year-old has been held without bond in the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center since his Jan. 11 arrest. Jones, who was described as a having a “gentle and sweet spirit” in her obituary, was killed by asphyxiation, according to the office of Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter.

A  25-year-old Washington, D.C. man was arrested on March 26 (Saturday) after an assault by mob at William Ramsay Recreation Center (5650 Sanger Avenue).

At around 9:15 p.m., the city’s Department of Emergency Communications got a call of multiple males fighting in the gym of the West End recreation center. When police arrived, a white Chrysler Sebring with Virginia tags attempted to drive away from the scene at “a high rate of speed,” according to a search warrant affidavit. Responding officers blocked the Sebring’s exit and its occupants were detained and questioned.

Alexandria Police will be outfitted with body worn cameras starting this summer, but it won’t be until next year that all officers will be outfitted with the devices.

The $2.2 million program City Manager Jim Parajon presented to Council on Wednesday (March 30) is significantly scaled back cost-wise when compared to a $13 million proposal presented to City Council last year by then-Police Chief Michael Brown.

Three men are being held without bond in the city jail after a robbery and abduction in the West End.

The incident occurred on February 23 at an apartment in the 51oo block of Fairbanks Avenue, which is near the intersection of Seminary Road and N. Beauregard Street. The victim went to the apartment to meet with an “associate”, who asked him for money, but the man said he didn’t have any, according to a search warrant affidavit.

A Fairfax County man was charged was charged with driving under the influence and assault and battery after allegedly abandoning his car in the middle of the 3500 block of Duke Street and running away on foot.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested for allegedly assaulting a person after he ran east on Duke Street at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. Police were initially called because his vehicle was sitting in the road and blocking the driveway of the McDonald’s at Duke Street and Wheeler Avenue, which is next door to Alexandria Police Headquarters at 3600 Wheeler Avenue.
