A 26-year-old Washington, D.C. man has been sentenced to three months in the Alexandria jail after leaving the scene of an accident while driving a stolen car in the West End in January.

Jarrel Bailey was arrested driving a stolen Dodge Challenger on Jan. 3 after Alexandria police attempted to pull him over for reckless driving on Monday, January 3. The Challenger took off at high speed, and then “struck an uninvolved motorist,” according to a search warrant affidavit.

A 17-year-old Falls Church male was arrested charged with two counts of felony hit and run after an incident that injured two Alexandria firefighters on the morning of Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) in the Landmark area.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. in the 300 block of S. Reynolds Street. The suspect, who was driving a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, was arrested by Fairfax County Police.

(Updated at 11:55 a.m.) A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 24) shut down traffic on N. Van Dorn Street from Taney Avenue to Holmes Run Parkway earlier today.

The incident was reported to the public via Twitter at 10:55 a.m., the Alexandria Fire Department and police are at the scene. Police and medics were dispatched to the scene, according to scanner traffic.

A man driving a Nissan Sentra with D.C. plates crashed into a light pole on Mount Vernon Avenue in Arlandria early Monday morning (October 4).

The incident occurred after 1 a.m. just outside of Casa Chirilagua at 4901 Mount Vernon Avenue. The crash smashed the Sentra’s windshield and caused its front and side airbags to deploy.

(Updated 7:40 p.m.) A pedestrian has been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a car crash around 7 p.m. on Cameron Street in Old Town, according to Alexandria police.

The street is shut down at the intersection with Buchanan Street, near the popular Metro Linear Park that runs parallel to the Metro.

A 13-year-old boy is fine after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Del Ray on Thursday afternoon, August 26.

The boy was walking home from George Washington Middle School when he was struck. He was transported to the hospital, and has since been cleared, police told ALXnow. The driver stayed at the scene and was not charged with anything.

A 31-year-old Prince George’s County man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a crash that seriously injured his female companion in the West End.

The suspect was arrested and released on Saturday, July 3. The crash occurred at around 1:20 a.m. that morning in the area of N. Quaker Lane. His four-door white 2017 BMW 540i traveled at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a vehicle waiting for a light to change, police reported in a search warrant.

(Updated 7:50 a.m.) Northbound lanes on Route 1 were closed earlier today after a vehicle crashed into a Jersey barrier at the Potomac Avenue and Route 1 intersection.

Police said the driver was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The incident had earlier been reported by police as having been a crash into a building.
