A 49-year-old Alexandria woman and her 40-year-old boyfriend are being held without bond after she allegedly encouraged him to pay for sex with her juvenile daughter.

The mother was arrested Oct. 10 and charged with production of child pornography and possession/distribution of child pornography. The male suspect, who lives in Manassas, was arrested Oct. 11 and charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child under 15 and possession of child pornography.

No injuries were reported after multiple gunshots were reported in Arlandria on Thursday night.

A group of minors told ALXnow that they were on on the front steps of an apartment building in the 3900 block of Bruce Street when, at around 9:15 p;.m., they were approached by three males in dark clothing wearing ski masks.

Damage from a grease fire has shut down the McDonald’s at 121 W. Glebe Road in the city’s Arlandria neighborhood, according to the Alexandria Fire Department.

Walls, ceiling panels, vents and the roof were damaged in the Oct. 18 (Friday) blaze, according to AFD. The fire in the frier area was reported to AFD by an employee at around 7:15 p.m. The fire was contained in about 35 minutes and AFD was on-scene for an hour, according to dispatch reports.

On a recent weekday morning, La Feria Latina was full of men playing skill games. The machines were unlocked when customers gave money to the clerk at the counter.

A suspect remains at-large after an alleged stabbing in the city’s Arlandria neighborhood at the beginning of the month, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The man was stabbed on the afternoon of Sept. 1 (Sunday) in an apartment in the 500 block of Four Mile Road, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

Alexandria is offering low-income residents with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) a chance to clean up the air quality in their homes for free.

The program, which launched last year, is part of the city’s Healthy Homes initiative. Eligible applicants will get a number of home visits from the Alexandria Health Department (AHD) to make a plan for healthier air.

Alexandria experienced a nearly 13% rise in Part 1 crime so far this year, with larcenies jumping 23%.

Part 1 crimes, or crimes against people, include homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and auto theft. There have been 2,692 total Part I incidents so far this year, a 13.5% increase over the 2,371 total incidents reported until this point last year, according to the Alexandria Police Department Crime Dashboard.
