Three women from D.C. face felony charges after being arrested for allegedly running out of a yoga store in Old Town with handfuls of clothing.
The three women were arrested by Alexandria Police Department officers in the early afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 6 for allegedly stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Lululemon store at 700 King Street and the Alo Yoga store at 814 King Street, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
Lululemon reported the theft at around 11:30 a.m.
“As officers were en route to Lululemon, [two officers] detained three females that were running out of the Alo Yoga store … with handfuls of clothing,” APD said in the affidavit.
APD canvassed the area and found the Lululemon merchandise “in plain view” inside a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with Virginia tags. The vehicle is registered to one of the suspects and was moved to the city impound lot at 5249 Eisenhower Avenue.
The suspects were charged with two counts of grand larceny of property valued at $1,000 or more, which is an unclassified felony punishable by one to 20 years in a state prison, or, at the discretion of a jury, a reduced sentence of up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
Yoga stores in Old Town are a popular target for thieves. Between September 2025 and March 2026, there were 18 confirmed thefts at Alo Yoga alone, according to another search warrant affidavit.
The suspects were released on recognizance and have a preliminary hearing scheduled on Oct. 19.
