Alexandria Metro riders looking for that Yellow Line shortcut into D.C. won’t find it this weekend.
Metro announced Yellow Line service will be shut down Saturday, Sept. 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20. That’s due to planned bridge and track rehabilitation, according to the transit agency.
No station closures will occur during the Yellow Line pause. Blue Line service will alternate between Downtown Largo and the Virginia end destinations of Franconia-Springfield and Huntington.
In addition, Silver Line trains will run between Ashburn and New Carrollton. Red, Green and Orange Lines will run normally this weekend.
Metro is planning another shutdown of Yellow Line service during the weekend of Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 to continue the bridge and track work.
